Southeast Texas will experience a typical early summer weather pattern this week, beginning with hot and humid conditions before rain chances increase during the middle and latter part of the week.

Hot and Humid Early Week

Monday and Tuesday will feature afternoon temperatures climbing into the lower to middle 90s across much of the region. Combined with high humidity, heat index values will approach or exceed 100°F in many locations. If you’ll be spending time outdoors, stay hydrated, take frequent breaks, and limit strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day.

Rain Chances Return Midweek

Beginning Wednesday, a more unsettled weather pattern develops as deeper Gulf moisture returns. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected each afternoon through the end of the week.

While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, some storms could produce:

  • Heavy downpours leading to localized street flooding
  • Frequent lightning
  • Gusty winds
  • Brief travel delays during heavier rainfall

Rainfall will not be continuous, but periods of showers and thunderstorms may interrupt outdoor activities, especially during the afternoon and evening hours.

Planning Ahead

If you’re attending outdoor events, youth sports, or FIFA-related activities this week, keep an eye on the forecast and have a plan to move indoors if thunderstorms develop. Remember, if thunder roars, go indoors.

Looking Ahead

Temperatures should remain near seasonal averages with highs in the lower 90s and warm overnight lows in the mid to upper 70s. Daily rain chances will help limit extreme heat, but humidity will remain high throughout the week.
